NERON (the Network for European Research on Jewish Life and Antisemitism) is a major European initiative, led by JPR and the European University Institute (EUI) and designed to strengthen the research foundations needed to foster Jewish life and combat antisemitism today, bringing together researchers, policymakers and community stakeholders from every part of Europe and beyond,

On 29 June 2026, at an event in Vienna, the European Commission launched NERON, in an event featuring Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation; Magnus Brunner, European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration; Katharina von Schnurbein, European Commission Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life; Alexander Pröll, the Austrian State Secretary; Professor Erik Jones, Director of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (EUI); And Dr Jonathan Boyd, JPR Executive Director.

Watch the event (German and English), followed by a Q&A session:

The project will address knowledge and research capacity gaps, promote methodological standards, and strengthen the link between research and policymaking so that evidence can better inform practical responses. It will also support the next generation of researchers through training and networking opportunities, while laying the foundations for a permanent European research hub to provide long-term coordination, expertise, and leadership in the field.
