The total population of Croatia on 1 January 2016 stood at 4,190,700. Its population declined by 34,600 in 2015.
As of 1 January 2016, the core Jewish population of Croatia was estimated to be 1,700 (0.04 % of the wider population), and the enlarged Jewish population was estimated at 3000 (0.07 % of the wider population).
An estimated 3,500 Croatians qualify for Israeli citizenship under the Law of Return.
Most organised Jewish communal life is centred on Zagreb, but there are also communities in Dubrovnik, Split and a number of other towns.
