  • The total population of Bosnia and Herzegovina on 1 January 2016 stood at 3,825,300. Its population declined by 5,600 in 2015. 
  • As of 1 January 2016, the core Jewish population of   Bosnia-Herzegovina was estimated to be 500 (0.01% of the wider population), and the enlarged Jewish population was estimated at 1000 (0.03% of the wider population). 
  • An estimated 1200 Bosnians qualify for Israeli citizenship under the Law of Return. 
  • The Jewish community is concentrated in Sarajevo and is largely Sephardi. 1,500 Jews left for Israel in 1991 during the war in the former Yugoslavia.
