The total population of Bosnia and Herzegovina on 1 January 2016 stood at 3,825,300. Its population declined by 5,600 in 2015.
As of 1 January 2016, the core Jewish population of Bosnia-Herzegovina was estimated to be 500 (0.01% of the wider population), and the enlarged Jewish population was estimated at 1000 (0.03% of the wider population).
An estimated 1200 Bosnians qualify for Israeli citizenship under the Law of Return.
The Jewish community is concentrated in Sarajevo and is largely Sephardi. 1,500 Jews left for Israel in 1991 during the war in the former Yugoslavia.
