Our annual House of Lords lunch took place earlier this month, hosted by our President Lord Leigh of Hurley and in the presence of JPR donors, parliamentarians and Jewish community leaders.
The event provides participants with an opportunity to hear more about JPR's work, discuss some of our latest work and reflect on our priorities going forward.
In his address, JPR Executive Director Dr Jonathan Boyd talked about the Institute's two main principles – robust social scientific work, and making a constructive contribution to the contemporary Jewish community. He stressed our strong emphasis on empirical accuracy – ensuring that the research we generate is of the highest possible standard – and using our work to help support Jewish organisations in the UK and across Europe to empower them to make sound strategic decisions.
The ensuing discussion focused on several issues, including the importance of empiricism in a post-truth context; the relationship between antisemitism and anti-Israelism; and future demand for places in mainstream and strictly Orthodox Jewish schools.
