National Jewish Community Survey (NJCS) update
Wednesday 15 Feb 2012
JPR holds consultations with major Jewish voluntary organizations
In preparation for the forthcoming Jewish National Community Survey which JPR will carry out later this year, JPR convened five consultations in January with over 50 senior professional and lay leaders representing the major Jewish voluntary organizations in the UK today. Each session focused on a key issue in Jewish life in Britain, namely: education, social care and welfare, fundraising and charitable giving, religious and communal life and security and antisemitism. The objective was to work with the charities to find out more about the issues they need to understand to inform their future strategy, so that the Survey can be designed to generate data on what matters most to them.
Second meeting of the Steering Group to advise on JPR’s Community Research Initiative
In February the second meeting of the Steering Group took place bringing together the sponsors of the Community Research Initiative (a major project which includes analysis of the 2011 UK National Census as well as work on the NJCS). Representatives attended from Pears Foundation, Jewish Care, UJIA, Nightingale House, Norwood, the Movement for Reform Judaism, the Assembly of Masorti Synagogues and the Jewish Leadership Council.
